- How much do estate agents charge?
- Many high-street agents charge a percentage of the sale price plus VAT. Online agents often use a fixed fee. Always check whether the quote includes VAT.

- Conveyancing fees vary by property and complexity. Leasehold sales and unusual titles can cost more. Use the calculator's editable estimate as a starting point.
- Do I pay Stamp Duty when selling?
- Stamp Duty Land Tax is normally paid by the buyer on their purchase, not by you simply because you are selling your home.
- Does my mortgage get paid automatically when I sell?
- Your conveyancer normally obtains a redemption figure and repays the mortgage from the sale proceeds on completion.
- What happens to the money left over?
- After the mortgage and sale costs are settled, remaining proceeds are transferred according to the conveyancer's completion arrangements.
- What if I have an early repayment charge?
- Some fixed or discounted mortgages charge a fee if repaid early. Check your mortgage statement or ask your lender for a redemption quote.
